About us

Southwest Hearing began as a family owned-and-operated pop-up clinic for musicians in Bristol. Our two directors, Jonathan & Vicki, have a uniquely close working relationship as a husband-and-wife team. Their implicit understanding of each other's strengths results in clear communication, and enabling clear communication is indeed our goal in clinical practice. Our services grew organically with demand, from Bristol to Totnes, the migration to our Devon hub being rooted in this young family pursuing a stronger connection with nature in a likeminded community. The ocean, river, and woodlands act as a constant source of adventure and joy for them, and so it is that they can pass this positive energy forward into the work we do with our patients.

JONATHAN DOYLE, CLINICAL DIRECTOR & AUDIOLOGIST

Jonathan has spent the best part of a decade honing his craft in renowned independent clinics from Harley Street Hearing to Clifton Audiology, but it is his warm unassuming demeanour that has people coming back in times of need. His bedside manner and adept skills are attested to by various glowing testimonials. Drawing upon an academic background in neuroscience, Jon found his passion in understanding the link between sensory information and cognitive perception. This is the fascinating world where science and art collide, where sound waves become music, and where the fundamentals of communication are born.

VICKI DOYLE, PRACTICE MANAGER

Vicki has an extensive background in the luxury travel and hospitality sector, and there are few far-flung places in which she hasn’t either lived or worked. Whether you’ve visited the lofty peaks of the Franco-Swiss alps, the simmering Sahara, or the alluring Australasian islands, Vicki has probably been behind the scenes orchestrating your adventure. Her experience in managing a team of discerning travel advisers lends her to this role in coordinating our clinic, whilst also delivering platinum-standard customer service.

β€œAt first glance our logo evokes the characteristic form of an ear through simple lines; the lower half as the entrance to the ear canal, contrasting with the cartilage of the upper pinna. Simplicity is at the root of our ethos, in that solutions we offer are both elegant and efficient. Reminiscent of the telecoil induction loop symbol, we are universally accessible and approachable. Contrasting halves portray the concept of yin-yang, an ancient Chinese philosophy of balance - which is another less outwardly obvious sense governed by the inner ear. These halves are bisected by a compass arrow bearing Southwest, our place of work and where we call home.”
